25-year-old man ID’d as morning shooting victim

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - The Allen County Coroner's Office identified the man shot and killed Friday morning north of Fort Wayne.

Police responded to the 1000 Block of Ridgewood Drive around 4:10 Friday morning on a report of gunshots being fired in the area. The caller told dispatch they heard around five gunshots.

Police searched the scene and found a man on the ground suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The Allen County Coroner's Office identified the man as 25-year-old Justin Cedrick Dawson.

He died from multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.

Dawson's death marks the 33rd homicide in Fort Wayne and Allen County.
