FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - Friday evening, a festival celebrating art in Northeast Indiana came to a close.

For the past eleven days, we've introduced you to the eleven artists creating murals across Northeast Indiana.

And Friday, for the first time, all of those artists were in one location, many of them meeting each other for the first time.

Make it Your Own Mural Fest is a project by the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership.

The organization worked with the eleven counties of Northeast Indiana to find a location for each mural, create a vision for it, and choose the artist who would paint it.

Those artists have brought their own backgrounds, ideas and experiences to their murals.

“The fact that we have our regional artists working alongside our national and international artists and all doing really high quality work, all singing the praises of our communities and seeing the Hoosier Hospitality. We heard really wonderful stories of our communities bringing our artists sweet corn and homemade jam and feeding them and stopping by every day. I think our Hoosier Hospitality really showed through," said Kate Virag, with the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership.

Organizers are also inviting people to participate in a photo contest.

Now through October 18, take a picture with any of the eleven murals and upload it along with the following hashtags: #MakeItYourOwnNEI #NEIpride #yes.

You'll be entered to win one of several prizes.
