Child dies after being pulled from house fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - The Allen County Coroner's Office says one of the children pulled from a house fire Thursday morning has died.

At about 4:50 a.m. Thursday, firefighters went to a home in the 3800 block of Chancery Place.

Crews made their way into the burning home and rescued a woman and her three young children.

Two other children and their mother remain in critical condition.

Medics took them to the hospital, but two-year-old Hazel DeFord died shortly afterwards.

Authorities said the other two children and their mother remain in critical condition.

It took about 20 minutes for firefighters to get the fire in the living room under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
