Fort Wayne man charged in child molesting, child exploitation case

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - A Fort Wayne man is accused of molesting two children and filming the crime.

Michael Schmidt, 48, is charged with four counts of felony child molesting, one count of child exploitation, and one count of possessing child pornography.

The alleged sex crimes date back to 2014 and involve two young girls.

According to court documents filed in the case, detectives recovered a slew of digital evidence against him, including videos and pictures on his devices.

Schmidt is due in court on Monday for an initial hearing.
