Fort Wayne breast cancer walk

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - Communities across Fort Wayne unite to help those who are fighting against breast cancer.

Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer that women can develop apart from skin cancer according to the American Cancer Society. Just this year alone nearly 280,000 will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and that's why so many wish to bring awareness to the disease.

On Saturday at 4 p.m., the organization held a unique version of its Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.

Instead of walking for cancer awareness the American Cancer Society held a drive-thru experience instead.

The event offered giveaways and resources to celebrate those who have had breast cancer themselves, cared for someone who had breast cancer, and their supporters.

The Citilink Pink Bus for Breast Cancer Awareness also dropped by the event to honor those who have been touched by breast cancer.
