Car crash on Washington Center Road leaves one woman with life threatening injuries

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - One woman has life-threatening injuries after a car crash Friday night.

Police confirm with ABC21 a crash on Washington Center Road and Lima Road just before

FWPD say one officer was on drunk driving patrol when they were in pursuit of one vehicle traveling at a very high rate of speed.

Officers say they stopped their pursuit because they couldn't catch up to the driver. Police say they continued on Lima Road and found the crash on Washington Center Road and Lima Road.

Officers say the vehicle they were chasing jumped a curb on the Washington Center side, going airborne and struck another vehicle sitting at the light.

Police have one male in custody and they believe alcohol and speed were factors in this crash.

A female victim was found pinned inside a vehicle after the accident. She was taken from the scene to a local hospital where a doctor said she had life threatening injuries.

Washington Center Road and Lima Road were closed for two hours during the investigation.
