Update: Indiana State Police have identified the man who died as 37-year-old Roger D. Hipskind.
Police say a 35-year-old woman was hit by a bullet and taken to a Fort Wayne hospital.
Her name has not yet been released.
No officers were injured.
The incident took place at 63 East Main Street, Apartment 3, in Wabash.
WABASH, Ind. (WPTA21) -- Indiana State Police say a man is dead after gunfire rang out inside an apartment while officers served a search warrant on East Main Street in Wabash Thursday evening.
Sgt. Tony Slocum from the Indiana State Police Post in Peru tells ABC21 News that S.W.A.T. members from the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department were assisting Wabash County sheriff's deputies in serving the search warrant as part of a criminal investigation around 5:45 p.m.
He says the man, who lives in the home, died at the scene after being shot.
Sgt. Slocum says a woman who was also inside the home was shot and transported to a hospital with injuries, but no one else was hurt.
Indiana State Police investigators are being assisted in the investigation by officers from the Wabash County Sheriff's Department and the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Departments.
Family members of the victim have not been notified, according to ISP.
