Holcomb directs flags to half-staff as nation marks 500k COVID-19 deaths

INDIANAPOLIS (WPTA21) – Gov. Eric Holcomb is directing flags across the state to be flown at half-staff in memory of the more than 500,000 Americans who have died from COVID-19.
The directive follows the proclamation from President Joe Biden that flags should be lowered to half-staff from now until sunset Friday.
Holcomb's order applies to state properties; he is asking businesses and residents to take similar action.
Biden addressed the nation Monday evening, offering sympathy to those who have lost loved ones and encouraging the nation to stand strong and unite in the effort to defeat the virus.
The president and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden observed a moment of silence shortly after the address.
