FBI arrests Ohio man with Fort Wayne ties on child porn charges

LIMA, Ohio (WPTA21) - The FBI arrested an Ohio man with ties to Fort Wayne during a child porn sting.

The FBI arrested 51-year-old Jeffrey Armstrong, of Rockford, Ohio, and he now faces federal charges of coercion, enticement, receipt and distribution of child pornography.

These charges stem from an investigation that alleges Armstrong was messaging with someone who he thought was interested in having sex with children on Feb. 10.

However, he was actually messaging an undercover agent according to a complaint filed by the Northern District of Ohio United States Attorney’s Office.

Armstrong is accused of sending sexually explicit photos of underage girls to this undercover agent.

The court document also alleges that Armstrong knows a five-year-old girl and six-year-old girl he was hoping to sexually abuse. Armstrong informed the undercover employee that he has engaged in previous sexual activity with minor girls.

Authorities searched his Rockford, Ohio home on Monday.

Federal authorities arrested him at his job in Lima, Ohio without incident Monday morning.

Law enforcement is encouraging anyone that has a child that has interacted with Jeffrey Armstrong and they feel any of those interactions could have been sexually inappropriate or was an attempt to “groom” the minor for future sexual interactions to please contact the FBI at 1-877-FBI-OHIO. Armstrong has lived in Rockford, Ohio for several years and has frequented kids sporting activities in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Law enforcement considers this an ongoing investigation and information outside of the federal complaint affidavit cannot be provided.
