FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - It’s the last day of Black History Month and a Fort Wayne non-profit called Bigger Than Us Inc. is helping people learn.

The organization hosted a seminar Sunday focusing on a variety of topics including Black history, ways to manage your finances, mental health and how to invest in the community or find solutions for issues.

There were four different speakers including Dave Thomas, Zuri Williams, Sheena Greene and Cicero Beemon-Bey.

It was hosted at the Fort Wayne Urban League with seating for about 30 people socially distant but for those unable to attend they also had a live stream option on their Facebook.

“We just figured as a Black owned non-profit we should do something for Black History Month,” Bigger Than Us Inc. Chairman Ferrell Holman said. “To see people out in the community care about other things, we are not really teachers but we are going to take the effort."

He says this is the first seminar they have hosted for the community and they really wanted people to learn something from their seminar and be able to connect with other people in the community.

“People don't know too much about Black history, it would just be nice other people knowledge you never know what you might learn,” secretary Lorenzo Holder said. “I feel good that people are actually taking their time out of the day to see something new and experience something.”
