FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - A Fort Wayne man admitted guilt in a 2019 drunk driving crash that killed another driver.

According to court documents, Johnson was driving 60 mph on Clinton Street on Sept. 21, 2020, when he went through a red light at Wallace Street, crashing onto an oncoming vehicle.

The crash claimed the life of Michael Stevenson.

Investigators said Johnson's BAC was .19 percent, and surveillance video in the area captured him running the red light. His driver's license was also suspended at the time of the crash.

In court Thursday, Johnson entered a guilty plea for causing death while operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

As part of the deal, prosecutors agreed to drop the driving while suspended and reckless homicide charges.
