FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21)- Two locals say they are looking forward to receiving their stimulus checks, they say it will help a lot.

"This money is going towards all the bills that weren't paid during the time we had to take off," Sandy Lash said.

Lash is a single mother, she has a 11 year old son. She says they've been quarantined twice this year, which has stopped her from being able to go to work.

"Being a single mom is so hard and when you don't have a job that you can depend on because you're quarantined you have to have help," Lash said.

She says the recent checks have helped her a lot and she's hoping this next one will help her family get back on their feet.

"Receiving these checks will enable to make a difference and move up to where we don't have to struggle anymore," Lash said.

Demetrius Jackson agrees, he was hospitalized back in October with Covid and double pneumonia. He says it took a while for him to recover.

"I was in the hospital for 9 days with a fever over 101 so it's come a long why I'm just now starting to get back to normal so from October to March it has had an affect on my body," Jackson said.

Jackson accumulated a lot of bills from his stay in the hospital and says the stimulus check will help him pay them off.

"I found my self just going to the doctor's from the time I got out up to February and March so this bill will help a lot of people out financially and just give people the opportunity to provide for their families," Jackson said.
