Grass fire illuminates the sky over part of 21Country

Noble County fire in the sky

NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA21) - A grass fire that burned Wednesday night brought units from several area departments to the field and created an unusual glow in the sky.

The Orange Township Fire Department reports that several dozen acres burned before the fire was extinguished.

Responding agencies included Johnson Township, Kendallville, Albion, Avilla, Noble County Emergency Communications and Parkview EMS.

The fire turned the night sky a reddish hue that could be seen for miles.

Though the wind and proximity to homes were cause for concern, no injuries and no significant property damage was reported.
