Deadly shooting in Northeast Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - Fort Wayne police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead near Reed Road and Vance Avenue Friday evening.

Around 10:52 p.m. police were called to Reed Road and Vance Avenue on reports of gunshots.

Police were called to the intersection of Reed Road and Vance Avenue Friday night on reports of a shooting. They arrived to find a man dead in the 4600 block of Willard Drive.

While officers were responding to the area, dispatch received a call about a shooting victim in the 4600 block of Willard Drive, that's just off Reed Road between Vance Avenue and East State Boulevard.

Officers arrived to find a man in the driver’s seat of a car suffering from several apparent gunshot wounds. He died at the scene, police said.

Officers found evidence at the intersection of Reed Road and Vance Avenue indicating the shooting occurred there. It appears the victim drove to the area of Willard Drive before he died from his injuries, according to police.

The incident remains under investigation.
