FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - The 122nd Fighter Wing is hoping to recruit more airmen and women with a brand new virtual reality tool.
Recruiters said the “VIPER” virtual reality experience shows potential members 10 immersive 360 environments. These scenes highlight different career fields in the Indiana Air National Guard.
It's a tool they'll use at career fairs, which are picking up again at high schools as COVID-19 restrictions ease up.
This is new technology to the Air National Guard, and the aim here is to showcase what a military job might be like.
"COVID has definitely changed our recruiting and how we do it. This is why it's perfect. It keeps the potential applicants safe. It keeps our men and women safe because they're not coming out and doing a tour. We can actually bring the base to them," Major Holly Shelton said.
Recruiters plan to debut "Viper" at Indiana State University in April.
