Auto dealership founder O’Daniel dies


FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - The patriarch of a local automotive family has passed.

O'Daniel Motors on Friday announced that its founder, Maury O'Daniel, had died.

His age and cause of death were not noted in the announcement, which cited his business legacy as well as his extensive involvement in the community.

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you our Founder, Maurice (Maury) O’Daniel, passed away. Maury relocated from Evansville, Indiana in 1979 and started O’Daniel Oldsmobile. He was a legend in the automotive business. Maury worked endlessly with his sons by his side and over the years they grew the operation to include 8 franchises. Maury has been involved in many philanthropic ventures and was heavily involved with local charities including some of his favorites which were Junior Achievement, Greater Fort Wayne Chamber, Matthew 25 Clinic, Saint Francis College and so many more. As employees of the O’Daniel Auto Group, we want to express our gratitude over the years and we look forward to continuing his legacy and his deep commitment to our community.
