FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – The City of Fort Wayne wants to recognize residents and government employees serving in the military who are actively deployed.
Through the Blue Star Banner initiative, members of the community are honored by name for their service.
Friends and family of deployed military members are encouraged to complete an application to the program.
Once the city reviews the applications, crews will put up the banners on light poles along West Jefferson Boulevard from the Times Corners area to Swinney Park.
Banners are on display through November and then removed during the winter months.
Since 2014, the program has recognized more than 100 Fort Wayne residents.
