FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - A local group dedicated to helping animals is asking the community to step up to come to the aid of six in need of special care.

Humane Fort Wayne said the group includes a cat that was discovered in a trash bag filled with chemical solvent, a puppy with a broken front let and another pup that needs surgery to remove a foreign object.

ABC21 aired the appeal earlier Wednesday. In an update posted that evening, Humane Fort Wayne said it had already raised $7,000 of the $10,000 needed to provide the necessary medical care.

Those still wishing to help can contribute and learn more at this web site.
