FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) -- One of the men suspected in a weekend homicide case is now in custody, the Fort Wayne Police Department said Monday.
The Allen County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 55-year-old Shane Van Nguyen. The coroner said he died by blunt force injury to the head, and ruled his death Allen County's 12th homicide this year.
Nguyen was the subject of a statewide Silver Alert issued overnight Saturday. According to authorities, he was last seen Friday at about 3 p.m.
Sunday morning, authorities found his body in a crashed vehicle in the 1500 block of Forest Park Boulevard near Anthony and Lake Avenue.
Police said that vehicle matched the description of a car that had been involved in an earlier pursuit. Authorities had to stop the chase because of unsafe speeds.
Detectives recently identified three suspects in the killing.
According to Sgt. Jeremy Webb, 20-year-old Cody Clements turned himself in to authorities Monday.
Detectives are still on the hunt for the other two suspects: 21-year-old Matthew J. Cramer and 20-year-old Jacob D. Carreon-Hamilton.
The men may be from the Elkhart or Goshen area, and police told ABC21 anyone caught hiding them will be charged.
While police said they don't know what prompted the killing, Sgt. Webb called the case "barbaric."
“It was brutal and extreme. It's not every day we come across cases of this butchery," Sgt. Webb said.
Webb said the public should consider the men "very dangerous."
