SYRACUSE, Ind. (WPTA21) - Indiana State Police need your help finding a 14-year-old girl who went missing earlier this week.
Authorities in Syracuse said Aaliyah Ramirez was last seen Tuesday morning wearing a black zip-up jacket, gray and white sweatpants, and a purple Nike backpack.
The teen stands about 5'9" and weighs about 138 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes, police said.
Katie Reynolds says she’s known Aaliyah Ramirez for more than four years. She says they grew up dancing together at a studio called dancers edge in Marion and at the Indiana Ballet Conservatory in Indianapolis.
“She is one of the sweetest girls I’ve ever met,” Reynolds said. "We danced together; I was a senior when she was in the junior age.”
She says when she found out Ramirez was missing, she immediately began her own search.
“I found out Wednesday afternoon, it shocked me and I started texting the whole company,” She said. “Like does anyone know about this?”
She says others told her that Ramirez left Tuesday morning and think she never made it to her bus stop.
Thursday night a Facebook page was created to help in the search and Friday the statewide silver alert was issued.
Reynolds says she and Ramirez were like a family at their dance studio.
"It strikes a chord in me, it hits home," she said. “We need her home, there’s so many of us that need her home. It’s scary and I don’t want anything to happen to her.”
