New Jersey toasts vaccines with ‘shot and a beer’ incentive

NJ Shot and a Beer

TRENTON, NJ (WPTA21) - The State of New Jersey is hoping to give a shot in the arm to the vaccination effort by offering a complimentary brew to those who roll up their sleeves.

The "Shot and a Beer" promotion offers residents 21 years old and up a free beer at one of 12 bars and taverns if they receive a first-dose vaccination in May.

"We're not going to be afraid to try new things," Gov. Phil Murphy said on Monday.

The program is a partnership between the State and the Brewers' Guild of New Jersey.

No public funds are being used in the program, which is part of a wider effort to get people vaccinated.
