FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - A body was pulled from the Maumee river on the east side of downtown Fort Wayne Tuesday morning.
Police and rescue crews were called initially to the area of Spy Run and Lafayette Street, about 8:40 a.m., by someone reporting a person floating face down in the water.
The victim was located downstream, near Columbia and Edgewater on the riverbank.
He was snarled in the underbrush.
Police tell ABC21 the remains are those of a man, yet to be identified. They do not suspect foul play, but an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Responding units included a drone team, water craft and officers who searched the riverbanks on foot.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources will assume the investigation.
