FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - The manner in which schools address COVID-19 in the fall semester is on the agenda Tuesday evening at one Allen County board meeting.

In New Haven, EACS officials will consider a resolution that continues the system regarding coronavirus safeguards to start the new school year. It would carry over practices while allowing the superintendent to make adjustments if they conform to local, state and federal requirements.

The EACS meeting beings at 6:30 p.m. and will take place at the Administration Building located in the 1200 block of SR 930. It will be a hybrid online and in-person meeting.

Southwest Allen County Schools has its own board meeting Tuesday evening, but no COVID-19-related items appeared on its agenda.

That meeting begins with an executive session at 6 p.m., followed by general business at 7 p.m.

It is the first board meeting since the announcement that Superintendent Phil Downs would be leaving by this summer -- earlier than had been anticipated.

Downs had planned to stay through the end of the calendar year. That changed when he accepted a post at Trine University in April.
