FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - He may be only 6 years old, but don't tell Benjamin Schell he's not on the Fort Wayne TinCaps starting squad.

Every game day, you might spot him dressed head to toe in a full TinCaps uniform: cleats, ballcap and a jersey.

"He's the one who's always kind of wanted to dress like the players, so as he's growing, we always try to match," Benjamin's mother Heather Schell said.

The two started going to games at Parkview Field when they moved to Fort Wayne about four years ago.

Since then, Benjamin's love of the game grew, and also inspired a wardrobe change.

"What did he want to be for Halloween when he was 3? He chose to be a baseball player," Heather said.

Over the past few seasons, fans started to recognize Benjamin, and even gave him the nickname "Tiny TinCap."

"He gets some extra waves from the players and enjoys when they have autograph days," Heather said.

The opportunity to be part of a team -- even though not officially on the roster -- has made Fort Wayne feel more like home.
