ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA21) - Police cars flashed their lights and blared their sirens as hundreds of local children saluted those inside during a "Parade of Heroes."

The event took place Monday at Huntertown Elementary School.

Students waved signs at the officers, from a number of different agencies, as they drove slowly past the gathered students.

The school is focused this month on gratitude and honoring those who serve the community.

Principal Casey Stansifer told ABC21 he wants kids there to know that officers are there to help them when they have a problem or need to find safety.

Last week, the school held a similar event honoring firefighters.
