Four-year-old badly hurt after being struck by car

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21)- A young boy has life threatening injuries after he was hit by a van Saturday.

Police say it happened around 6:36 p.m. on 4th street near Lawton Park. They say a van was driving on the street just in front of the entrance of Lawton Park. A four-year-old boy who was attempting to cross the street, darted in front of the van. It was unable to stop in time and struck the boy. He was taken to Lutheran Hospital with life threatening injuries.

This incident remains under investigation. Police closed the street off during the investigation but it is now back open.
