NACS reinstates mask mandate

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA21) -Students, staff and visitors will be required to wear masks inside all Northwest Allen County Schools buildings until at least October 14.

Monday night board members voted 3 to 2 to bring back the mask requirement. Masks will be required unless:

  • The are 6 feet or more apart from all persons
  • They are outside
  • They are engaged in high-exertion activities such as physical activities implemented during physical
education classes, sports, or marching band
  • They are eating or drinking
  • They are covered by any other exception required by federal or state law

Students have been in school for just over two weeks so far with the mask optional policy.

Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb's mask mandate in schools expired on June 30 and the board voted in late June to make masks optional beginning July 6.
