Congress Ave. home heavily damaged in fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — What crews believe is a vacant home on the southeast side of town was heavily damaged in a fire Tuesday afternoon.

Fort Wayne Fire Department Deputy Chief Adam O'Connor said crews were called just before 3:30 p.m. to a home at the corner of Congress Avenue and Monroe Street.

Battalion 11 arrived and found a working structure fire.

The small, one-story home appeared to be vacant, O'Connor said.

Crews searched the home twice and found no one inside.

O'Connor said the fire was quickly extinguished and is under investigation at the time of this report.
