Man arrested, charged with murder in Villages of Hanna shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — Fort Wayne police say they have made an arrest in a recent fatal shooting at an apartment complex on the southeast side of town.

FWPD says they were called just after 2:30 Tuesday afternoon to reports of multiple shots fired at the Villages of Hanna apartments, on Eden Street.

As police were talking with witnesses, they say the victim walked into a hospital and was said to be in life-threatening condition. He was later pronounced dead.

Wednesday morning, police arrested 25-year-old Derrick Dennis II.

He is currently being charged with murder.

The Allen County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 19-year-old Gery Allen Rucker of Fort Wayne. His manner of death was ruled a homicide, marking the 28th in Allen County so far this year.
