FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - Communities across Fort Wayne and surrounding areas are working to unite help those who are fighting against breast cancer.
Breast Cancer is one of the most common types of cancer that women can develop apart from skin cancer according to the American Cancer Society. Just this year alone nearly 280,000 will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and that's why so many wish to bring awareness to the disease.
'Making Strides of Fort Wayne' is reuniting in-person to walk on Sunday, October 17, 2021 between 12-1:30pm. The event will be 100% outside this year at the Foster Park Pavilions and Golf Course Parking Lot.
They will be encouraging social distancing in all areas and ask that every participant bring a mask with them. They will also be following all CDC, state and local health guidance and regulations to make sure the event is safe for our attendees.
Survivors can stop by our Survivor tent when they arrive at the park. The survivor area is a special area for survivors. You'll find important information about American Cancer Society programs and services geared specifically for you, in addition you can receive a complimentary Survivor Gift.
Make sure to stop by and get a picture with the giant pink chair, our photo backdrop, the giant pink bus, Parker Tow Trucks, Chevy pink wrapped vehicle & more!
All participants, including children must register for this event. This can be done beforehand online, through our website, or mobile app. For the most up to date announcements and celebrations, please visit and follow our Facebook and Instagram pages at @makingstridesfortwayne.
