Hoosier Idol Performance Rules

Who can participate: Anyone between the ages of 15 to 28 years (as of June 1, 2018)

When: Saturday, August 25th from 2-5pm EDT

Where: Rhinehart Music Center, Purdue Fort Wayne, 2101 Coliseum Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46805

Upon Arrival: Each contestant must sign in upon arrival with a Hoosier Idol representative and will be assigned a participant number at that time. This contest is limited to the first 150 contestants to arrive and be assigned a number. Contestants will be called to the stage by that number and must be present to perform. Any contestant not present when their number is called will be required to receive another number by a Hoosier Idol representative, effectively moving to the back of the line (if the contest has not filled all 150 spots).  Numbers will be called in an ascending order starting with 1 through 150. No contestants will be accepted after 4:30pm on August 25, 2018 at the Rhinehart Music Center or after the contest receives 150 participants, whichever comes first.

How do the rounds work: The contest will include two rounds: the first round and the final round. In the first round, contest officials will call each number up to the stage in order, and each contestant will perform. After the first round is complete, contestants chosen by the judges will perform in the final round, again in order by number.

First Round: Contestants will sing for :30 seconds and then be scored by the judges. After the first round is over the judges will deliberate. At approximately 5:15pm, contest officials will announce final round contestants by number.

Final Round: Contestants selected to perform in the final round must be present to participate. If any of the chosen contestants are not present, an alternate participant will be selected in their place. In the final round, contestants will sing for :60 seconds. After that time, the judges will give personal feedback.

Judges Decision: After the final round, the judges will deliberate and announce the top three winners (approximately 6pm).

·         First, second and third place winners will be selected by the judges immediately following the contest on August 25, 2018. The selection will be based on the judges’ opinion of the best overall singers, based on the following three criteria:

o   Vocal  Performance

o   Visual Performance

o   X-Factor

What the winners receive: The first place winning performer will be awarded the Silver Ticket to perform for the American Idol Executive Producers on a date and time TBA. Contestants ranking 2nd and 3rd will be given a front of the line pass for the American Idol audition in Columbus, OH (9/12/2018). Winners are required to provide their own lodging and transportation to and from Columbus.
