WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA21) — It’s almost summer and that means it’s time once again to hit the road and explore all the fun that 21Country has to offer.

Taking advantage of the recent spell of pleasant weather, we made our way to Morsches Park, the largest of eight parks in Columbia City.

The playground and baseball fields may seem like standard additions, but the 117-acre park also features a splash pad, a skate park and nine miles of mountain bike trails. Not many public spaces can make that claim.

The baseball and softball leagues have wrapped up for the year, but plenty of fun can be found for the rest of the season at a brand new facility just down the road.

That facility is the Russel and Evelyn Fahl Aquatics Center, built where the 60-year-old Burnworth pool once stood. The layout is beautiful and there are several interactive elements that are sure to keep families coming back.

“We had Burnworth here for a long time, but this is just different. There’s a lot of different things that people can do,” Jacob Johnson, aquatics manager at the center said. “Kids can come and they have a lot of different things that they can go to rather than just the parents are laying out and there’s just a kiddie pool.”

The facility is one of the biggest developments in recent times for Columbia City. Now in its first few weeks of operation, the aquatics center has made some top-notch first impressions.

No matter where you are in 21Country, you’ll want to put this on your summer destination list.
