Court documents are giving new insight into the case of a woman who was found stabbed to death in a home on Baxter Street.
Police said they were called to the home at 808 Baxter Street by a man who said his sister-in-law was dead around 6 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30. When they got there, they found a woman dead and three other family members inside the home, including the victim’s husband, 47-year old Julio Rodriguez.
When police arrived, they spoke with Julio Rodriguez who said "I think I killed my wife," and told police that she was in the basement.
They then found 41-year-old Lucia Segura dead in the basement with a large neck wound. Police said they also saw blood drippings near the basement stairs.
They located a black knife handle near the stairs, and a bloody knife blade near the washer and dryer.
Julio said he was in the basement getting ready for work and was arguing with his wife about her having multiple affairs, and she grabbed a knife. He at first denied stabbing her, but said he hit her once.
Upon further interviewing, he said they began physically fighting and he grabbed a machete and accidentally cut her in the neck. When asked how many times he stabbed her, he said two.
Julio said he then tried to clean up some of the blood before going to his brother’s house, who later called the police. Lucia Segura is the 19th homicide victim in Allen County for 2018.
