FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA 21) – Several residents around Fort Wayne have extravagant Christmas light displays, and it takes a lot of time and money to put lose displays up.
One Fort Wayne family has been participating in the fun for more than 20-years, but this year someone tried to take that all away.
“They cut down the arches here, a couple different spots. It wasn’t like one cut. They cut six spots on one of the strands, and another one on the far end. They cut three or four spots down there, and back on the fence, I have stuff along there, they busted some of the lights there,” said Jason Grossnickle the homeowner.
Since then Jason has been working every night trying to get his lights up and running.
The Grossnickle’s put a sign up outside telling everyone the Grinch came and tried stealing Christmas, but that they won’t let him win.
Several people from the community have reached out trying to help the family, they have even received Christmas cards with money to help replace the damaged lights.
Since then the Grossnickle’s have put more lights up than they ever have before.
There was surveillance footage, but the big spruce tree in their front yard blocked the Grinch and his friends, so they weren’t able to catch who did this.
