LIGONIER, Ind. (WPTA 21) — A man has died after being hit by a car while riding his bike in Ligonier.

The Noble County Sheriff’s Department said in a release that Faron Yoder, 24, was driving his Nissan Altima while drunk in the 9600 block of West County Road 1200 North when he hit Richard Miller, 23, of Topeka.

Miller died at the scene.

Yoder, a Ligonier man, then continued east on CR 1200 North before driving off the road and crashing head-on into a pole.

He was taken to a hospital because he was unresponsive due to his level of intoxication and later taken to the Noble County Jail where he faces a charge of Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death.

Indiana State Police officers were called to assist with the investigation.

This is a developing story. ABC21 will provide updates when we know more.
