1 with life-threatening injuries following crash south of downtown Fort Wayne

FORT WANYE, Ind. (WPTA 21) — One man is considered to have life-threatening injuries after a crash south of downtown Fort Wayne early Friday morning.

It happened just before 2 a.m. at the intersection of E Wallace Street and S Hanna Street.

The man was initially taken to the hospital in serious condition, but, once there, doctors deemed him to have critical injuries.

Police at the scene said a city worker was driving a city truck back to the Street Department to load up on asphalt for overnight construction work.

The truck was stopped at a red light on Hanna Street at the intersection with Wallace when another car rear-ended the truck. The man driving vehicle was taken to the hospital.

The city employee was not hurt.
