FWPD: Possible shooting with life-threatening injuries south of downtown

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — Police are investigating a possible shooting just south of downtown Fort Wayne.   

Police said they received a call around 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday after a victim was taken to St. Joe hospital with life-threatening injuries.

FWPD Public Information Officer Sofia Rosales-Scatena said initially, the hospital stated he was a gunshot victim.

But Rosales-Scatena said that at this time, they cannot confirm whether or not it was actually a gunshot wound. The victim has been transported to a trauma hospital.

Officers say details on the case are very limited, and detectives are investigating the incident in the 1200 block of Stophlet Street.
