Byron Health Center to break ground on new facility

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21)–The Byron Health Center is celebrating its namesake’s birthday with a groundbreaking.

Byron Health Center’s namesake, Irene Byron, was born on October 10, 1882. That is why they chose Wednesday to begin work on a new facility.

Mayor Tom Henry, the Allen County Commissioner, and the Byron Health Center CEO say they will attend Wednesday’s groundbreaking ceremony. They say it represents years of preparation and planning.

The project received $12.5-million in new market tax credits, the most ever awarded to a single project by the city.

The new building on their community campus will have over 100 long-term and skilled care beds. Miller’s Place Assisted Living will offer 50 assisted living apartments.

The groundbreaking is happening at 1:30 Wednesday on the corner of Lake Ave & Beacon St in Fort Wayne.
