INDIANAPOLIS (WPTA21) –The polls have closed, the votes tallied up and now we’re seeing the results after Hoosiers made their voices heard for the midterm elections.

Among some of the chief issues voters gave their voice to was the tight US Senate Race. When the votes were counted it was Braun the winner in convincing fashion and Republican party supporters were doing all the celebrating.

ABC21 had a crew at the JW Marriott hotel in downtown Indianapolis, where it was smiles and cheering all around.

Senator Joe Donnelly called Braun around 9:30 Tuesday night to concede the race. Braun came onto the stage to a big ovation.

While Republicans revel in the victory, state Democrats are trying to handle the loss in stride. ABC21 had a crew in Indianapolis, where the mood changed drastically as early reports projected Joe Donnelly would lose his seat in the US Senate.

Donnelly addressed his supporters, encouraging them to stay positive and work together to keep the country united.
