FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — A heads up to drivers if you take state boulevard as part of your commute.
Work on phase one of construction between Spy Run and Terrace Road has been completed. State Boulevard and should re-open Friday after bad weather pushed it back.
It won’t be too long, though, until the road will be closed down again. Phase two of the project is set to begin in March.
This will involve the replacement of a 90-year-old bridge over Spy Run Creek, realigning the road, adding additional travel lanes, a protected sidewalk and a trail. There will also be landscaping and decorative lighting.
Phase I added a westbound travel lane to alleviate traffic that currently backs up on the Ian Rolland Bridge, a sidewalk buffered by a park strip on the north side of the road, a trail on the south side, decorative lighting, and an improved turn lane for eastbound traffic turning north onto Spy Run.
