FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — We are Digging Deeper when it comes to the number of bank robberies in Fort Wayne.
We took a close look at police records between the years of 2014 and 2018. Over the past five years, there have been 31 bank robberies.
Of the 31 bank robberies, the Wells Fargo bank on West State, which is now a Flagstar branch, has been robbed three times.
The first bank robbery at that location happened in December 2015. It was robbed twice this year one week apart.
Seven other banks have been hit at least twice in the four year period. Those include Partners First on West Jefferson, Fifth Third on Lima Road, the Chase Bank branches on Pettit and Lima, Salin on East State, Three Rivers Federal Credit Union on Bluffton Road, First Source on Carnegie, and the Public Service Federal Credit Union on Hobson.
