FINDING JAYME CLOSS: Police identify suspect in Wisconsin homicide, kidnapping

BARRON, Wis. (WPTA21) — A Wisconsin couple answered a pounding door to find a skinny, dirty girl with matted hair standing next to their neighbor.

“This is Jayme Closs! Call 911” the neighbor said. This was the end of the search for the 13-year-old girl who had been missing for nearly three months.

Authorities say 13-year-old Jayme Closs was found Thursday afternoon in the Town of Gordon in Douglas County, Wisconsin. A suspect was apprehended minutes later. Jayme was taken to a hospital for an evaluation.

The suspect was identified as  21-year-old Jake Thomas Patterson. He was being held Friday in the  Barron County Jail on three charges-Two counts of First Degree Intentional Homicide in the deaths of Jayme’s parents, James and Diane Closs, as well as one count of Kidnapping.

Closs, just 13 years old, disappeared from her parent’s home the day they were found dead. Both parents were shot to death and authorities ruled their deaths homicides.

The aunt of Wisconsin teenager who disappeared after her parents were killed in the family’s home says the girl escaped from where she was being held and ran to a woman walking her dog for help.

A nationwide search for the teen turned up false leads which kept investigators puzzled and led to a $50,000 reward for information.
