Three arrested in connection with Marion triple homicide

MARION, Ind. (WPTA21) — Three people have been arrested in connection with a shooting that left a man and two boys dead.

ABC21 previously reported the shooting happened inside a home in the 2300 block of South Gallatin Street on December 30. The shooting left 42-year old Javon Blackwell, 12-year old Javon Blackwell Jr. and 11-year old Jayzon Blackwell dead.

The Marion Police Department said they arrested three people in connection with the shooting. Those arrested were 29-year-old Lemere Jones, 25-year-old Demetrius Jackson and 29-year-old Brittany Drake.

Police say Jones and Jackson also face preliminary charges in connection with the November 2018 death of Maurtreyviaun Sanders. Additionally, Jones faces preliminary charges in connection with an Armed Robbery at a Family Dollar.

Jones was preliminarily charged with three counts of murder, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and armed robbery in connection with the Marion triple homicide case. He was preliminarily charged with one count of murder, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and armed robbery in connection with the November homicide case. He was preliminarily charged with armed robbery, serious violent felon in possession of a handgun and pointing a loaded firearm in connection with the Family Dollar armed robbery.

Jackson was preliminarily charged with three counts of murder, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and armed robbery in connection with the Marion triple homicide case. He was preliminarily charged with one count of murder, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and armed robbery in connection with the November homicide case.

Drake was preliminarily charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery in connection with the Marion triple homicide case.

The department was assisted by the Grant County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police.
