US Marshals arrest man wanted out of Steuben County

STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA21) –UPDATE: A Man wanted for failure to register as a sex or violent offender has been arrested.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office sad Keith Kappler was arrested Tuesday morning in McHenry Illinois. He was awaiting extradition to Steuben County to face charges of failure to register as a sex or violent offender.

Police are looking for help finding a fugitive non-compliant sex offender.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office said an arrest warrant was issued on January 22 charging 56-year-old Keith Kappler with failure to register as a sex or violent offender.

The warrant comes as the department learned Kappler was no longer living at his registered address in Steuben County and allegedly failed to report any change in location.

Kappler is a 5’9″ man weighing approximately 159 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair and is known to wear glasses. The office said he may be in the McHenry County, Illinois area.
