Bristol man leads police on chase to Waterloo residence

WATERLOO, Ind. (WPTA21) — A Bristol man faces preliminary charges after a chase that ended with a three-hour long search.

The Waterloo Marshal’s Department said the chase began after an officer tried to pull over a speeding vehicle on US 6. The vehicle took off through the streets of Waterloo before going off the road 2 miles east of the town on County Road 28.

Police say the driver, later identified as 23-year-old Austin Troxell, ran away from the damaged vehicles. Officer searched for Troxell and were able to find him inside an enclosed porch at a private residence on County Road 34.

Troxell was taken into custody and preliminarily charged with fleeing law enforcement with a vehicle, resisting law enforcement, leaving the scene of an accident, driving while license suspended, theft and residential entry.
