Shipshewana man arrested after chase crosses state line

LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA21) — A Shipshewana man faces preliminary charges after a chase took police from Michigan into LaGrange County.

The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department said the chase began in Constantine/White Pidgeon, Michigan. The chase took police into LaGrange County at State Road 9, just north of Howe.

The chase continued onto State Road 120, where the driver continued at high rates of speed. The department said during the chase, the driver drove at several oncoming vehicles.

Officers were able to execute a P.I.T., or precision immobilization technique, maneuver on the vehicle to stop it. The driver was taken into custody.

The department said further investigation revealed the vehicle was reported stolen out of Colorado and the California license plates were also stolen.

The driver, identified as 23-year-old Aaron Schrock, was preliminarily charged with resisting law enforcement with a motor vehicle, a felony and misdemeanor charge of possession of stolen property, and reckless driving. Additional charges are expected from Michigan.

The department was assisted in the investigation by the Indiana State Police, LaGrange Police Department, Constantine Police Department, Sturgis Police Department and Indiana Conservation Department.
