Flu closes Fort Wayne school

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — A Fort Wayne Catholic school closed Friday after nearly a third of students were absent.

The Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend said Queen of Angels School was closed due to a student absence rate of 31 percent. A high rate of flu was the cause for the closure.

Indiana Department of Education recommends that schools close if the student absence rate reaches 20 percent.

The diocese also said they are following proper sanitation procedures as directed by the Allen County Board of Health.
