FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — France will be recognizing a local World war 2 veteran with their highest honor Friday.
Paul Ripley will receive the Legion of Honor Friday at a ceremony at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception.
Ripley was a member of the quartermaster section of the 9th Army headquarters and participated in the northern France and central Europe campaigns.
Founded by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802, the Legion of Honor is the highest distinction that France can bestow upon those who have achieved remarkable deeds for the country.
