GARRETT, Ind. (WPTA21) — Two people died and paramedics took another person to the hospital after a fire in downtown Garrett early Monday morning.

The fire was reported in the 100 block of South Randolph Street. Witnesses tell us they believe the fire started after midnight in the second story of the apartments next door to the former Silver Screen Cinema.

Crews blocked off a portion of the street while they worked the scene for more than 12 hours.

We will bring you the identities of the victims when that information is released.
