FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry delivered his annual address Wednesday.
The address highlighted successes in 2018 and looked ahead to plans for 2019 with the theme “Our Future is Now.”
During the address, Mayor Henry touched on downtown construction such as the progress made by major projects like as Promenade Park, the MaMaJo boring machine as well as Allen County once again reaching the billion dollar mark in building permits issued.
He also touched on road construction, with the city having completed over 500 neighborhood road projects last year, and another 31 million dollars of projects planned for this year.
Mayor Henry also addressed crime in the city, saying while there was a spike in homicides, overall crime is down 15 percent. He said the Fort Wayne Fire Department added 22 new officers and will continue to address homicides by adding more resources to the homicide unit.
Jeff Neumeyer will report on the State of the City address on ABC21 News at 6.
